JANUARY 14TH HIGH
SCHOOL PTO MEETING
The January 14th PTO meeting will
be held at 9:00am in the Franklin Regional High School
auditorium. Guest Speakers will be Dr. D'Arcangelo, Shelley
Shaneyfelt and Frank Muto. They will present The
Dashboard student/parent portal communication system.
The Dashboard has student academic information, including
attendance and grades to date. The Dashboard also includes a
"virtual locker" where teachers will post assignments and
homework. Future capabilities include discussion groups much
like a chat room or blog.
In addition, Principal Tina Burns
will update us on the positive events occurring at the High
School.

FABULOUS FOOTBALL 22
Joey Rockovich was named in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette's Annual list of the "Fabulous 22 Football Players in the Eastern section of the WPIAL". This list is always impressive, but especially this year, with the high caliber of high school football players in the league this year (Central Catholic, Jeannette, and Serra Catholic all won States this year.) It is a tremendous honor. Congratulations Joey!

MARTIN LUTHER KING HOLIDAY
CELEBRATION - LET FREEDOM SING
The FRHS Choruses will host six predominantly African
American choirs from Penn Hills, Beaver Falls and inner city
Pittsburgh to present "Let Freedom Sing: An Urban- Suburban
Celebration of Community on the Martin Luther King holiday, January
21, 2008 at 7pm. There will be over 300 performers involved in the
concert! Through music and oratory, we will demonstrate unity and
reveal that we are all truly part of a larger, more inclusive
community.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
The Murrysville Community Library is currently accepting
applications for Library Page. This position pays $6.25/hour and
applicants must be at least 16 years old. (The library has a student
exemption.) Library Pages are responsible for shelving returned
library materials, assisting at the Circulation Desk and performing
other tasks related to assisting library users with programs,
resources and services. Typically, Library Pages work one night a
week from 4:00-8:30, every other Saturday (either 8:30-2:00 or
11:30-5:00), one Sunday from 1:00-5:00 and one Friday afternoon from
3:00-5:00 per month. For more information or to submit an
application, please stop by the Library and ask for Mrs. Beiber.

�S.A.T. Math Prep Course�
Max: 12
Two day course to be held the weekend before
the test offered on Mar. 1
Fee: $100.00 which includes textbook
Sat., Feb. 23 (8 am - 4 pm) and Sun.,
Feb. 24 (Noon - 4 pm)
This 12-hour course is designed to help
improve math scores for PSAT/SAT. Students will review math skills
and test-taking reasoning strategies. Using PSAT/SAT practice tests,
students will be able to identify problem areas and learn test-taking
techniques and decision-making skills regarding which problems to attempt
and which to skip to achieve the highest score. Learn to work smarter, not
harder.
Bring a calculator and a lunch and two
drinks for Saturday. Instructor, Ronald R. Rometo,
is the former math instructor with Sylvan Learning Center, an adjunct
faculty member with WCCC, a private tutor, BA/Math and BS/Engineering.

"Build a Bird Feeder - Conservation Project"
for ages 5 to 19

Make a homemade bird feeder to attract
birds to your yard for the "Great Backyard Bird Count" (Feb 15-18). Share
the time with the local 4-H Conservation Club and come away with a great
winter project! Parents are welcome to stay and make a feeder, too. Call

724-327-6885. Meet at Pleasant Valley Park on Pleasant Valley Road, if
weather is bad, the group will move to the Murrysville Community Center?but

techniques used by modern police forces. A day of fun and learning.
Instructor: Sergeant Charles Tappe, special training in accident

Getting ready to get your license or just got
it? It is important to be a responsible, defensive driver and to know PA
regulations. Class instruction presents a variety of techniques to train
drivers to adjust to today's driving situations. Student will be issued a
"driver education certificate" which is acceptable for insurance discounts
at the completion of the course. This course does not include on the road

�Valentine Social - Puppy Love� for
dogs and owners FREE
Wednesday, February 13, 2008 6 pm Walkers Pet HoTail, 4603 William Penn Highway (next to Cleveland Brothers) For the Valentine season, Walkers Pet HoTail is partnering with the Municipality of Murrysville for a FREE Love My Pet / Love My Community Valentine Social to be held at Walkers. Party goers will use Walkers large indoor play area to socialize and show some love. Michele Clarke, Recreation Director, will speak and answer questions about the individual characteristics of the lovely dog-friendly parks in Murrysville, proper park etiquette for dogs and future plans for a Dog Park to be developed in Murrysville Community Park. Human and canine refreshments will be served. All dogs will need to be on a leash and be current on their vaccinations. Discover Snorkeling is the first step towards
exploring the underwater world. Take this beginning step to gain confidence

Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI).

Experience the underwater world at this
non-committal one-day class. Learn how to breathe underwater, then explore
the bottom of the pool - it is that easy! This course experience can be
used as a credit towards gaining an Open Water Certification.

Physical Education Instructor and certified scuba instructor through the
Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). An additional class
can be added if the maximum registration is exceeded.

Begin your adventure towards a lifetime
scuba certification through this program. Learn the academics in the
comfort and convenience of your own home around your schedule. During the
scheduled sessions listed above, you will learn water diving techniques,
review academic materials and complete knowledge review sessions. Once you
have completed this course work, you will be ready to enroll in the open
water certification dives (available on various weekends throughout the
summer or at the tropical dive destination of your choice while on vacation
� fees vary by location). Each
participant will supply his/her own quality mask, fins and snorkel. Tanks ,regulators
and BCD's
