SENIOR ANNOUNCEMENTS
Senior announcement packets are due in the office on Thursday, February 14, 2008.  If you did not receive an announcement packet, they are available in the front office.

FYI - As with the class rings, varsity jackets and senior pictures, announcements are optional. The school provides this opportunity to families, but you are under no obligation to purchase any of the items offered. If you do choose to send out announcements, you can purchase them through the school or an independent vendor. If you are interested in seeing the announcements available through the school they are on display in the main office.

MEALPAY UPGRADED SYSTEM IN JANUARY
(Below is a copy of a letter to parents from Mealpay, the online prepayment service provided through the school district for school lunches)

Dear Parent:

We are excited to let you know that will offer you a new and improved MealpayPlus beginning on January 1, 2008! We have added upgraded enhancements and features to MealpayPlus to continue to offer you the convenience and information you need to manage your student's account. In addition to a new state-of-the-art parent support center, you now have the ability to view pending and confirmed payments!

Due to system upgrades, each parent will need to register or re-register their account on www.mealpayplus.com after January 1st. Instructions on how to register are listed on www.mealpayplus.com. All account balances and deposits made through MealpayPlus before the end of the year will reflect on your new account.

**Don't forget to reset your Low-Balance Email Reminders and Auto-Replenish payments. These settings will need to be re-actived on your new account.**

For those parents not familiar with the system, MealpayPlus allows parents to go online to www.mealpayplus.com to manage your student's meal account. MealpayPlus allows you to make deposits, view account balances at no cost, and even create settings to auto-replenish your account or receive free reminder emails when the balance is low. Visit www.mealpayplus.com today!

Your satisfaction is our number one priority, and we're looking forward to offering you a new and improved MealpayPlus!

Thank you again,
The MealpayPlus Team

FYI - I have heard from at least one parent who didn't know about this upgrade and the need to re-register, especially the auto-replenish feature. I don't know how many parents use Mealpay and all of its features, since there is a fee associated with some of them, but I thought everybody should be made aware of the changes that went into effect in January. The letter I copied was on the back of a flyer that was clearly intended to go home to the parents. I don't know if and/or when it was distributed at the high school.

EXCELLENCE AWARD NOMINATIONS DUE THIS FRIDAY
Has someone at Franklin Regional made a real difference in the life of a child or a group of children? Perhaps this individual is a teacher or an aide or a volunteer parent. Maybe he or she is a member of the custodial or maintenance staff or is an administrator. Whatever the role this individual has played, we are looking for you to recognize this special persons efforts by nominating him/her for the FR Excellence Award.

We are so fortunate to be surrounded by generous, creative, and dedicated persons who make very important contributions to our educational community. The FR Excellence Award is a concrete way to recognize these efforts and show your support. The process is simple and relatively painless, the rewards for all are timeless and endless but a nomination is required before consideration can begin. So?.please put on your thinking cap, follow the simple guidelines below and begin the process of letting these special someones know that their efforts are recognized by others.

Ø      Download both pages of the application (http://www.franklinregional.k12.pa.us/)
Ø      Read the rubric descriptors to help you highlight all of the important contributions this person or group of people has made to our educational community
Ø      Type on the electronic document or print a hard copy
Ø      Fill in all of the required information
Ø      Be sure to get a second signature on the form
Ø      Do not nominate more than two individuals or groups (However, you can second more than two nominations)
Ø      Tell us why your nominee should receive the award by writing a short letter or essay. Using the descriptors of excellence will help you tell your story to the selection committee.
Ø      Keep it neat. A proofread document always helps to make a positive statement.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, February 15th. The selection committee will meet the following week and the FR Excellence Award recipients will be notified on Friday, Feb. 22nd.  All nominees will be given a copy of their nomination letter(s) but the nominator information will be kept confidential.

Dont miss this valuable opportunity to share the good news with those whom you admire! If you have questions, please contact Shelley Shaneyfelt by email or by phone or Karen Cadwell by email or by phone at extension 7613.

FYI -  Nomination forms are also available in the office of each school building in the district.
