COLLEGE CREDIT FOR HONORS IV AND V WORLD LANGUAGE CLASSES
Important information for parents of Honors French and Honors Spanish levels IV and V students: a packet of information about the LaRoche Scholars program is being distributed Monday, September 17 in class.  Parents, please take a careful look at this information!  It's a great opportunity for your child!
(Madame Schneider)

COLLEGE IN HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION
College in High School  (CIHS) is a statewide program that partners high schools and post secondary schools to help students earn credits toward high school graduation and college simultaneously.

Letters were handed out those students who are enrolled in the nine classes being offered this year as part of the CIHS program. In the letter the charges for the CIHS courses was presented. It was mentioned that FR had received a Duel Enrollment Grant to help offset the costs, but the exact amount was not know at the time the letter was written. I now have that information.

Grant monies will lower the cost of CIHS $20 per course.
One 3-credit course at California University will now cost $55
One 3-credit course at LaRoche College will now cost $85.

Registration (form and check) will take place in the Counseling Center and  will run from September 17th through September 21st.
Students need to complete a registration form for EACH class that they take. However, students may bring ONE CHECK with a combined total for all classes. Checks must be made out to FRANKLIN REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT.
(ASB, based on letter sent home and information provided by Ms. Mellon)

FYI - If you would like to learn more about the CIHS program and other options for dual enrollment there is a brochure available on the counter in the main office.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Six to eight NHS members are needed to serve as guided at Open House on Tuesday, September 26th. Volunteers should sign up with either Mrs. Burkett (214) or Ms. White (226).
(Mrs. Burkett, 9/17-9/19)

ATTENTION ATHLETIC BOOSTER SPONSORS
I am requesting to have any athletic booster sponsors to contact me if you have a project or idea that would have anything that you may need art students to help you out.  Our National Art Honor Society high school students are looking for their community project ideas for this year.  We do have some limitations as far as what we are able to do, but we will try to work with you if possible.  Please contact:  Mrs. Lori Mozina at: lmozina@franlinregional.k12.pa.us (email is faster).  Phone me at x.5134 if you do not have email access.
(Mrs. Mozina)

HOMECOMING BONFIRE
Let's get "FIRED" Up!   It is that time of year again- bonfire time!  The homecoming bonfire this year will be on Thursday, October 11th at 6:30 pm on the side soccer field of the high school (same as the last few years).  If you would like to have a booth at the bonfire, please contact Sandy Pianetti at x5011 to set it up.
If there are any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact Bret Thompson at x5132 or x5034 at the high school.  This has always been a great event.  Try to come if you can- it is a lot of fun for everyone and the bonfires are always a great success!

YEARBOOK AWARD
The 2007 Quill received a gold rating from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association last week. As a gold rated yearbook, the Quill will be entered into another contest in hopes of being named Columbia's Gold or Silver Crown winner. This award has given us national recognition.

STUDENT DIRECTORY AND PTO MEMBERSHIP FORM

Don't forget to return the PTO membership/student directory form. The Student Directory is a great resource, especially for the many group projects when fellow classmates need to be contacted. Some families buy more than one copy; one for the student, one for the parents or one for the home and one for the car.

Also please don't forget that the high school PTO does absolutely no fundraising and relies on membership donations to keep our sponsored activities going.
(ASB)

FYI - If your son or daughter ran off with their schedule, envelope and all, before you could retrieve the PTO form, extra copies are available in the main office and will be available at the first PTO meeting on September 24th at 9:00 a.m. or at Open House on September 25th at 6:00 p.m. The deadline for inclusion is October 5,2007.
(ASB)

BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteers are needed to serve on this committee.  Our Breakfast of Champions will be held February 8 and again May 22.  Although the first Breakfast is months away, it is important for us to get together now to begin our planning.  We don't meet a lot during the year, however, we will meet at the end of September.  If you are interested, contact Ellen Dillard, ebd57@comcast.net or 724-733-4512.
(Ellen Dillard)

FIRST MEETING
The FRHS PTO will hold its first meeting on Monday, September 24th at 9:00 AM. All parents are welcome to attend. Get a chance to meet the principals and other staff members, learn what the PTO has planned for the year, sign up for the e-news, turn in your student directory form, learn about the volunteer opportunities and meet fellow parents. I hope to see you there!
