OPEN HOUSE THIS EVENING
The FRHS Open House is tonight from 6:00~8:10 PM. Student were given letters inviting parents to this evening's Open House. If you didn't get yours yet, ask for it. It contains detailed information about the evening and has a place for your child to fill in his or her schedule for you to follow. Make sure the schedule portion is filled out with your child's Tuesday schedule otherwise you won't know where to go the night of open house.

For those of you who are new to high school let me summarize the evening... at 6:00 PM all the parents gather in the auditorium for a few introductory remarks by the administration and entertainment provided by the chorus and media classes. Then at 6:20 you will be dismissed to your student's first period class.  You get to follow their schedule and experience their day, including trying to navigate through the halls during each 4-minute "class change".  Each class is only allotted 8 minutes, so clearly this is not the time for a parent-teacher conference, but it is fun to see the rooms and be able to put a face to the name of each of your child's teachers.  Most teachers will have handouts including a course syllabus and/or classroom rules and goals. For those unfamiliar with the layout of the school there will be maps available, plus signs will be posted in the halls and members of the National Honor Society will available to direct you if you get hopelessly turned around. Be forewarned the room numbering system has a few quirks, plus the map doesn't show all of the stairs.

While in the school, either before the program starts, during a study hall period or after the last period, take the time to stop by the PTO tables which will be stationed outside the cafeteria in the front lobby and outside the auditorium in the back lobby. You can drop off your PTO member/student directory sign-up form or pick one up.  We will also be collecting E-News subscriber enrollments.

FYI - Due to the number of people who usually attend open house I strongly suggest you get there early to allow time to find a parking place.

At the PTO meeting yesterday it was announced that several other tables will be set up during the Open House. In addition to the PTO, Student Council will be selling FR items, a representative from Balfour Ring company will on hand to take orders, the Library will have a table where you can pick up a community library card application and the Post-Prom Committee will be on hand as well signing up volunteers and advertising their meeting on October 9th.

It was also mentioned at the PTO that the Varsity Soccer team has a game tonight beginning at 8:00. If you have the time it might be nice if you could come out and support our undefeated team!
