LADY PANTHERS TENNIS
TEAM POSITIONED TO WIN SECTION TITLE
Area tennis fans have
been treated to exciting tennis matches on the Franklin Regional High
School Tennis Courts this season.
The Lady Panthers are currently a victory
away from clinching the WPIAL Section I team title. The deciding and last
home match is against Penn Trafford on Monday, October 8 at
4:00 PM.
On
September 26th Kayllie Wang, Alex Bailey and
Cezanne Tollari (the Lady Panthers top three singles players) beat
their opponents in straight set wins. The top doubles teams of Jen
McAndrews and Jen Lichtenstein and Maria
Satira and Madelyn Rea also won in straight sets.
On October 1st, all twenty-four of
the Lady Panthers really poured it on and defeated
Norwin High School. This puts the Lady Panthers in a very promising position
for WPIAL Team Championships. Again
Kayllie, Alex and Cezanne beat their
worthy opponents in straight sets. And the top doubles teams of Jen
and Jen and Maria and Madelyn won
in straight sets too. The junior varsity scored very big as well.
Crystal Greenlund and Caroline Carlson initially
lulled their opponents into thinking they could win and then snatched a
victory with tiebreaker scores. Christina Stavros and
Laura Mamo won easily in straight sets. Hannah Cox,
Rachel Sobczak, Eileen Rehwald, Lyndsay Miron, Kasey Rice and
Rachel Fedishen played well for the team. Kelsey
Barner, a tough singles player, won in straight sets. And
Margaret Carlson ended with a nail biter, tiebreaker win.
Tennis fans are invited
to attend the junior varsity invitational
tournament on Thursday, October 11th and Friday,
October 12th
at the Franklin Regional tennis courts. It
is a great opportunity to watch our talented high school tennis players.

COLLEGE VISITS THIS WEEK
Late addition for this week:
Friday, October 5
3rd Period - West Virginia University
FYI - I noticed the last time I was in the
building that on the bulletin board outside the main office just beyond
the display cases there are a lot of posters from various colleges
advertising either their visit to FRHS or promoting a campus visit
opportunity. Interested students should try to stop by and check it out.
SOPHOMORE NEWSLETTER
Sophomores should receive their newsletter in their English classes
tomorrow or at the latest Tuesday. It mainly contains information
regarding the PSAT. Sophomores who have completed geometry are
eligible to take the test. The scores do not count this year
and taking the test is considered a practice exercise.
