ALUMNI TENT TO BE SET UP AT HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME
The National Honor Society will sponsor, for the first time, a special tent for Alumni at the Homecoming football game on Friday, October 12.  The tent will be set up close to the end zone nearest to the high school.

In the past returning students often end up walking around the looking for friends. This year the NHS tent will give returning alumni a place to meet, catch up on news and have refreshments. NHS members will be manning the tent. The tent will be open from 7 pm through halftime.

HOMECOMING BONFIRE THIS THURSDAY
It is that time of year again! The homecoming bonfire will be this Thursday, October 11th at 6:30 p.m. on the practice field next to the high school.

Everyone is gearing up for the bonfire this week. I encourage you to go and enjoy the evening. The community is invited and it is a family friendly event. Performances by the band and cheerleaders start off the night. The local volunteer fire department will then light the bonfire structure, expertly constructed by members of this year's senior class. There have been a few years when I found the wooden sculpture was so intriguing I thought it was a shame to set it afire.

Many of the booster organizations, clubs and classes will be sponsoring booths. The bonfire is the first major fundraiser of the year for some and for others it is their only fundraiser.  I can't wait to see the assortment of tasty treats and products that will be offered this year. In years past I found there was no need to make dinner. There were plenty of goodies to create a complete meal; appetizers, main course and desserts!  In addition to good things to eat and drink there are fun things to do and music provided by a DJ. Last year taking turns smashing a car was a big hit and the dunking booth always proves to be a crowd drawing attraction. And of course there will be plenty of FR proud items to purchase. For those of you who can't get there at the start of things, the festivities usually last until 9:00 PM or so. So come on out and join the fun!

SENIOR ADS FOR THE YEARBOOK
Each year the yearbook staff offers parents of seniors the opportunity to purchase a graduate ad for their son/daughter. The ads are displayed in the back of the yearbook. The ads include a small write-up and a baby picture.

Order forms were mailed to parents earlier this year. An ad costs $40. Checks should be made out to "The Quill" The deadline for placing an ad is Friday, October 19, 2007.

Items for sale and fundraisers...
(New or updated items' titles are highlighted in blue)

Editor's note: I will run fundraising announcements in the E-News about once a week. If you are associated with a school related organization and would like to advertise it in the E-News please send me an article to FRHSnews@windstream.net. I have found the simpler the format the better. Often when I copy more complicated items the original formatting (fonts, spacing, colors, etc) doesn't transfer well and I end up having to retype the article. Please be sure to include a contact person and an end date, so I know how long to run the article.
