BONFIRE TONIGHT
The homecoming bonfire will tonight on the practice field next to the high school.

I encourage you to go and enjoy the evening. The community is invited and it is a family friendly event. Many of the booster organizations, clubs and classes will be sponsoring booths. The bonfire is the first major fundraiser of the year for some and for others it is their only fundraiser.  I can't wait to see the assortment of tasty treats and products that will be offered this year. In years past I found there was no need to make dinner. There were plenty of goodies to create a complete meal; appetizers, main course and desserts!  In addition to good things to eat and drink there are fun things to do and music provided by a DJ. Last year taking turns smashing a car was a big hit and the dunking booth always proves to be a crowd drawing attraction. And of course there will be plenty of FR proud items to purchase. For those of you who can't get there at the start of things, the festivities usually last until 9:00 PM or so. So come on out and join the fun!
(ASB)

FYI - I only have a few of the details about what will be offered tonight, but I thought I would share what I know:
  • Young Democrats will be selling carmel apples in plain, peanut and M&M varieties for $2 a piece
  • The Newspaper Club is sponsoring the dunking tank. Mr. Duffy and Officer Buzz are among the volunteers willing to take the plunge. $1 for 1 ball or $3 for 5 balls.
  • The Italian Club, Spanish Club, Kids Helping Kids, and PAWS for a Cause are some of the many organizations planning on having a booth at tonight's festivities.
I hope the weather cooperates tonight! Keep your fingers crossed that the rain holds off!

ALUMNI TENT TO BE SET UP AT HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME
The National Honor Society will sponsor, for the first time, a special tent for Alumni at the Homecoming football game on Friday, October 12.  The tent will be set up close to the end zone nearest to the high school.

In the past returning students often end up walking around the looking for friends. This year the NHS tent will give returning alumni a place to meet, catch up on news and have refreshments. NHS members will be manning the tent. The tent will be open from 7 pm through halftime.

FREE STUDENT ADMISSION TO GAME ON FRIDAY
FRHS students can get into the game for free on Friday if they bring 2 cans of food to the ticket window. The can goods will go to the Murrysville food bank to help local families. The collection drive is being sponsored by the Key Club.
(ASB, based on announcement from Mrs. Koury)

The marching band debuted their new halftime show last week and received a standing ovation from the Knoch home crowd. Come out to the game on Friday to see the FRHS marching band and their crowd pleasing performance. For a sneak preview go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aRTMQvFPSk
