SENIOR ADS FOR THE YEARBOOK
Each year the
yearbook staff offers parents of seniors the opportunity to purchase
a graduate ad for their son/daughter. The ads are displayed in the
back of the yearbook. The ads include a small write-up and a baby
picture.
Order forms
were mailed to parents earlier this year. An ad costs $40. Checks
should be made out to "The Quill" The deadline for
placing an ad is Friday, October 19, 2007.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS BOWLING - VOLUNTEERS
NEEDED
The Special Olympic Bowling competition will be held
on Saturday, November 3rd at Hillview Lanes in
Greensburg from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Buddies are needed to assist and encourage bowlers.
Any student who might be interested in helping by serving as a buddy
should pick up an information packet and registration form posted
outside of room 126 in the World Language hallway.
Registration forms must be turned in by
Monday, October 22.

LIFE SKILLS CLASS NEED VOLUNTEERS
The Life Skills class needs student volunteers to
help during period 3 math and period 9 art classes. If your child
has a study hall either of those periods and is willing to donate
time to help with these classes, please have him/her see Mrs.
Polczynski in room 126 as soon as possible.

JV TENNIS TOURNAMENT MOVED TO NEXT
WEEK
The junior varsity invitational tournament originally
scheduled for yesterday and today has been rescheduled to next
Monday, October 15 and Wednesday, October 17 at the Franklin
Regional tennis courts. All tennis fans are invited to attend this
great opportunity to watch our talented high school tennis players.

COMMON APPLICATION
FR is now an electronic partner with
the Common Application organization. When students apply
online to a Common Application college, they simply have to
provide the counselor's and two teachers' email addresses
for the recommendations. Transcripts and the school profile
are also sent electronically. No more paper forms,
envelopes, or stamps.
PENNSYLVANIA GOVERNOR'S SCHOOLS OF
EXCELLENCE
Applications are now available
in the Counseling Center or online at www.pgse.org
for next summer's Governor's Schools in the Arts, Agricultural Sciences,
Global Entrepreneurship, Health Care, International Studies, Sciences,
Teaching, and Information Technology. Tuition, room, board, materials and
activities at these five-week programs are underwritten by the Commonwealth
of PA. Selection is meritorious and highly competitive. Eligible students
must be current sophomores and juniors for Agriculture, Sciences, Arts, and
Global Entrepreneurship. All the other schools are open only to current
juniors. Deadlines vary but generally fall in January and February.
AYN RAND ESSAY CONTEST
Up to $10,000. Contest open to
9th-12th graders. Freshman and sophomores must read Anthem. The
junior/senior selection this year is The Fountainhead. Contest rules and
guidelines are available at
www.aynrand.org/contests. Deadlines: March 20,
2008 for Anthem and April 25, 2008, for The Fountainhead.
