FRHS E-News
October 23, 2007

This is my sixth year at the high school and I know I take for granted some things are general knowledge, but I also realize that six years ago some of those same topics were a great mystery to me. That is where I need your help. If you are new to the high school and ever read anything in the E-news or on the school's webpage that you don't understand or want to know more about, please don't hesitate to email and ask.  If you are wondering about something, I'm sure are others are equally curious and it will help me to know what I need to explain in the E-news. Thanks.

11th GRADE PHYSICALS
Pennsylvania state law requires that students in grade 11 receive a physical examination. You may have this completed by your family physician, or your child may receive a physical examination by the school physician.

A gold physical form and a cover letter were sent home with every 10th grade student at the end of last year. The cover letter included a fill out portion that parents were asked to return to the Nurse's Office by November 2007.  On the form you indicate whether your child's pediatrician has or will perform a physical exam or if you would prefer the have the school's physician perform the physical. The school's examination is provided free of charge.

If you have misplaced the cover letter and the physical form they are available from the nurse. Please try to let the nurse know as soon as possible if you intend to have the school physician perform your child's physical.

INPUT SOUGHT
The Franklin Regional School District is currently reviewing the curricular programs for Music, Health and Wellness, and Counseling Services. We are very interested in your thoughts and opinions about our current program offerings and any suggestions that you might have for growth or improvement.

This invitation is extended to all persons who have an interest in the Franklin Regional School District, i.e., parents, residents, or business owners.

There are multiple opportunities for your involvement from simply sharing your opinion through completion of a survey to serving on the Cyclical Review Committee for one of the curricular areas. Committee membership involves a commitment to attend 5-6 meetings over the course of two years beginning in February, reviewing the draft Cyclical Review Report created by the teachers and providing feedback and reviewing all new course and new materials requests before they are submitted to the School Board. We are hoping to have 3 parents (one from each school level) volunteer to serve on the committee for each subject under review as well as an interested community/business member. Committee members will be selected from the interested applicants.

Please visit www.franklinregional.k12.pa.us <http://www.franklinregional.k12.pa.us>  and follow the link on the left side of the page to curriculum. There you will find links to the forms for the opinion survey and volunteer information. Simply complete the information and click, submit, to become an important part of this process.

Items for sale and fundraisers...
(New or updated items' titles are highlighted in blue)

Editor's note: I will run fundraising announcements in the E-News about once a week. If you are associated with a school related organization and would like to advertise it in the E-News please send me an article to FRHSnews@windstream.net. I have found the simpler the format the better. Often when I copy more complicated items the original formatting (fonts, spacing, colors, etc) doesn't transfer well and I end up having to retype the article. Please be sure to include a contact person and an end date, so I know how long to run the article.
