ROSES DELIVERED TODAY
Anyone who ordered roses through the Key Club should
expect delivery today. The roses are being distributed during lunch
periods today.
SENIOR BARBEQUE TOMORROW
This annual BBQ marks
the beginning of the senior year. The students will be dismissed at
12:35 to take the "08" picture on the football field and then go to the
cafeteria for a fun celebration. This event is FREE for all seniors and it
takes place after the regular lunch periods. The barbeque will consist of
hot dogs, hamburgers and many salads and desserts donated by senior
parents. There will be several prizes raffled off during the BBQ. Please
make sure to remind your senior about this event.
FYI - The Senior Barbeque and the Senior
Picnic are one and the same event. I don't know the history as to why some
people call it a barbeque and some prefer to call it a picnic, but by either
name it is a fun class event and a way to start off the senior year.

INPUT SOUGHT
The Franklin Regional
School District is currently reviewing the curricular programs
for Music, Health and Wellness, and
Counseling Services. We are very
interested in your thoughts and opinions about our current
program offerings and any suggestions that you might have for
growth or improvement.
This invitation is
extended to all persons who have an interest in the Franklin
Regional School District, i.e., parents, residents, or business
owners.
There are multiple
opportunities for your involvement from simply sharing your
opinion through completion of a survey to serving on the
Cyclical Review Committee for one of the curricular areas.
Committee membership involves a commitment to attend 5-6
meetings over the course of two years beginning in February,
reviewing the draft Cyclical Review Report created by the
teachers and providing feedback and reviewing all new course and
new materials requests before they are submitted to the School
Board. We are hoping to have 3 parents (one from each school
level) volunteer to serve on the committee for each subject
under review as well as an interested community/business member.
Committee members will be selected from the interested
applicants.
Please visit
www.franklinregional.k12.pa.us
<http://www.franklinregional.k12.pa.us>
and follow the link on the left side of the page to curriculum.
There you will find links to the forms for the opinion survey
and volunteer information. Simply complete the information and
click, submit,
to become an important part of this process.

GIANT EAGLE APPLES FOR
THE STUDENTS
The FRHS PTO is again encouraging any Giant Eagle shopper to help the high school in this FREE program. Register your Advantage Card and your spending will help the school earn points that can be exchanged for FREE educational products. Last year we received 3 microscopes, a DVD/VCR player and a volleyball. This year's program begins on Sunday, October 28, 2007 and continues until Saturday, March 15, 2008. If you registered last year, you are already registered this year. THANK YOU! You can change the school that you wish to support anytime. You can designate up to 5 different schools for your spending to be divided equally among those chosen. There are two easy ways to register your Advantage Card so that the high school receives your spending electronically. 1. Call toll-free 1-800-474-4777 and follow the prompts. Have your Advantage Card on hand for the 12 digit number on the back. Our school code # is 1704. 2. Visit www.gianteagle.com. Search for Apples For The Students and follow the instructions. Have your Advantage Card ready and use our school code #1704. Encourage your friends and relatives to register their Advantage Cards to help the high school. We currently have 175 Advantage Cards registered for us. PLEASE REGISTER NOW! Our school account has been activated for this year's program. Don't put it off because these 20 weeks go by quickly. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT! Questions? Call Judy Stramat (724-733-5923)

ALUMINUM CAN RECYCLING
Annie Essay's and Judy
Polcyznski's classes collect aluminum cans. The
Life Skill classes use the money earned to
participate in functional and community based
activities such as the Special Olympics.
Cans can be dropped off in the fenced-in
collection bin behind the Middle School. The
cage is just for loose aluminum cans. No
plastic bottles or bi-metal cans, please.
Please DO NOT put bags in the cage!
If you have collected your cans in a bag or some
other container and you are unable to dump the
cans into the cage, please do not toss
them in container and all. Simply place your
container on the pavement near the cage and the
students will take care of it. If a bag is
tossed into the cage someone must physically
climb into the cage and remove it! This can be
dangerous, not to mention unpleasant and in
the warm weather the bees and yellow jackets add
to the safety concerns whenever someone has to
climb in to remove bagged cans. So please
remember - ONLY LOOSE CANS IN THE CAGE. Thanks!
The aluminum can
collection and recycling program is an all-year
activity.
