DANCE
ANNOUNCED
All the rumors you've heard from the kids
are now officially true. Everyone had such a great time at Homecoming that
the students decided they would like another dance between Homecoming and
the Snowflake Dance in February.
The organizers have received the go ahead.
There will be a dance Saturday December 15th and it will be held at
the Middle School gym (the high school was
not available for this date). The times
are 6:30 until 10PM. Tickets will be $5 a person and will go sell starting
December 3rd.
The dance is being sponsored by the
Italian Club and is a Black and White
dance (attendees have to wear Black and White or will not be admitted)
It addition it will follow the Sadie
Hawkins format, so the girls will be asking the guys. However, a student
does NOT have to have a date to attend. The dress will be semi-formal
similar to the Homecoming Dance.
PAPER PRODUCT COLLECTION DRIVE
The Delmont Food Bank is in need of paper
products, including toilet paper, paper towels, tissues and napkins.
The Life Skills Class at the high school will
be collecting donations of paper products from students, families and staff
members.
Please drop off your donations in the main
office or room 126 by the end of November.
SPRING MUSICAL
This year's musical has been announced....
Bye, Bye Birdie!
Students
interested in auditioning for the musical should sign up for a time slot in
room 112. Practice CDs are also available.
MARTIN LUTHER KING CELEBRATION PLANNED FOR JANUARY
Urban and suburban choral
ensembles will join forces to present "Let Freedom Sing" in Murrysville on
January 21, 2008 in celebration of the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. Proceeds from the concerts will benefit the "Build the Dream"
project to construct the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial on the National
Mall in Washington, DC.
In keeping with Dr. King's
philosophy and beliefs, this event will celebrate "community & diversity"
when suburbs and city neighborhoods come together as one community in an
evening of musical celebration, narration, and tribute.
Nationally recognized
performing artist Vanessa German will narrate the event. The concert will be
conducted by Rev. Dr. Herbert Jones, national officer of the Gospel Music
Workshop of America. Collaborating with Dr. Jones in organizing the concert
event is Kris Rust, director of choirs at Franklin Regional High School.
The FRHS Choruses will host six predominantly
African American choirs from Penn Hills, Beaver Falls and inner city
Pittsburgh. There will be over 300 performers involved in the concert!
Through music and oratory, we will demonstrate unity and reveal that we are
all truly part of a larger, more inclusive community.
Each invited group will perform individually
in the first half of the concert, and will come together as one chorus in
the second half to perform three selections, accompanied by string orchestra
and the GMWA instrumental ensemble.
