HOCKEY REPORT
The Franklin Regional Junior Varsity Hockey team outlasted the Westmont
Hilltoppers, 4-3, at the War Memorial in Johnstown, PA on Wednesday,
November 28th. The Panthers outshot the Hilltoppers 31-14, with
Atilla Balazsi in goal for Franklin Regional. Luke
Stickel scored twice, while David Russo and Mike
Scarano added goals for the Panthers. The Junior Varsity team
held off the Hilltoppers while shorthanded over the last minute of play,
securing their third victory of the season and raising their record to
3-1-1.
Monday night, December 3, 2007 will be a big night for both ice hockey teams as they each take on the Latrobe Wildcats in a regional showdown. The Varsity team faces off at home against Latrobe at the Center Ice Arena, with game time at 8:30 P.M. The Junior Varsity team has an away game rematch against the Latrobe JV squad at the Nevin Arena in Greensburg. The puck drops there at 9:30 P.M. Hope to see all of you at the games !!!!

PTO VOTED TO HELP TELETHON
At the last PTO meeting the membership voted
to support the telethon efforts by providing hot chocolate and
cookies for the students working the telethon at Shur Save from 6 to
9 PM on December 20th.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP
WITH TELETHON
Ms. Pursglove (one of the organizers for the telethon) is
looking for parent volunteers on December 21st during the school day.
She needs 4 to 6 parents from 9 to 11 AM and 4 to 6 more volunteers from
11 AM to 1 PM. Volunteers are needed mainly to help with crowd control
by directing audience and participants to their appropriate locations.
If you are interesting in helping during either or both
shifts please email Penny Holden (holden3@comcast.net)
as soon as possible.
TENTS NEEDED ON DECEMBER 20TH FOR TELETHON
The telethon is scheduled to be outdoors for one night
this year - December 20th. The organizers are in need of a few big
tents to cover and protect the Chinese Auction display. If any booster
group, club or individual has a tent that they would be willing to lend
to this worthy cause please contact Mrs. Magness at
bmagness@franklinregional.k12.pa.us.
BAND CONCERT MONDAY NIGHT
The Music Department will present the annual holiday band
concert on Monday, December 3, at 7:30 PM in the auditorium. The featured
ensembles will be the Sax Quartet, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz
Band. Many traditional favorites will be part of the program, so come out
and enjoy an evening of holiday music! Tickets will be available at the
door.

DIVING MEET WEDNESDAY

to be at our pool on Wednesday, December 5th at
5PM. The diving meet lasts about 45 minutes.
MEN'S BASKETBALL RETTGER MEMORIAL TIP-OFF
CLASSIC THIS WEEKEND
The Fourth Annual Franklin Regional /Mike Rettger
Memorial Tip-Off Classic will be held this Saturday and Sunday. The
tournament is held in memory of Mike Rettger, who played for FR in the
late 90s on the WPIAL championship teams. He passed away shortly after
graduating from W&J of a rare brain infection. Our Varsity and JV teams
will take on Indiana, Woodland Hills and Norwin. Please join your
Panthers in celebrating the tip-off of the 2007-08 season. JV will play
at 6:00 pm (auxiliary gym) and Varsity at 8:00 pm (main gym) both
Saturday and Sunday. Please consider bringing a toy to benefit the
Salvation Army Toys for Tots Program, and you will be admitted for $1.
Corey Friend, 2007 graduate, will be presented with the Mike Rettger
Scholarship at half time on Saturday night. GO PANTHERS!
