The inventor Alexander Graham Bell said, "Before
anything else, preparation is the key to success." During the
school year, students are busy with school
work and extracurricular activities and have little free time. Yet,
students who want to improve their test scores need to make time to
prepare for the following exams.
| PSAT: |
Next exam in October 2007 |
| SAT: |
October 14, 2006; November 4, 2006;
December 2, 2006;
January 27, 2007; March 10, 2007; May 5,
2007; and June 2, 2007 |
| ACT: |
October 28, 2006; December 9, 2006;
February 10,
2007; April 14, 2007; and June 9, 2007 |

Busy schedules necessitate planning
now to meet each student's needs. Our tutors meet one-on-one with
each student following an effective individualized course of study.
Most students make the greatest progress after 20 hours of tutoring.
However, each student is different and may need either more or fewer
than 20 hours to significantly increase scores. The pricing is shown
below.
| First 10 hours of tutoring |
$350.00 |
| Second 10 hours of tutoring |
$300.00 |
| Additional hours after 20 |
$25.00/hour |
It is important to commit to at least 10 hours because most
students need 20 hours to significantly raise their ACT or
SAT scores. Fewer hours are unlikely to improve the scores of most
students.
Our pricing is very competitive. For example, Princeton Review
offers 18 hours of private tutoring for about $2200, while Kaplan offers 16 hours for
about $1800. In fact, we offer private tutoring for the price most companies
(Princeton Review, Kaplan, Sylvan) charge for group classes.
Of course, private tutoring is more effective than group classes
especially for
-
students with a
varied schedule because lessons are planned when the student
is available
-
students who are
weak in a specific area because lessons are tailored to each
student's needs
-
students who are
highly motivated because much progress can be made during each
lesson for those students who complete the assigned homework
-
students who are
not so motivated because, at least for the time of the lesson,
the student is working on preparing for the tests.
In our
tutoring sessions, we
use materials published by the companies who write the PSAT,
SAT, and ACT. By using the most authentic materials
available, students are better prepared for what to expect on
testing day. You can easily purchase these materials online or at
local book stores.
I look
forward to hearing from you soon so that we can begin to help your
son or daughter prepare for success!
